Special Immigrant Juvenile Status (SIJ)
A green card path for children abused, abandoned, or neglected by a parent.
Overview
SIJ protects children under 21 with a qualifying state juvenile court order finding that reunification with one or both parents is not viable due to abuse, abandonment, neglect, or similar basis, and that return to the home country is not in the child's best interest. The federal I-360 petition follows the state court order.
